Vaughn to Become Ballard's Chief of Staff

New Ballard COS
Ryan Vaughn
When Ryan Vaughn was President of the City-County Council, he was often charged with being the Ballard Administration's mouthpiece on the Council.  What the Ballard folks wanted, they almost always got.

I guess we should not be surprised that Vaughn is moving to the Mayor's Office now as Greg Ballard's Chief of Staff.  Vaughn, who was appointed to the Council in 2007 and elected to a four-year term in 2011, has resigned his Council seat.  A caucus of Republicans will now be convened to replace him.

The question now will turn towards Vaughn's future.  If Greg Ballard decides that he doesn't want to run for a third term as Mayor in 2015, will a guy like Vaughn step in and give it a go?  Long way to go for that one.

This is a pretty smart move by the Ballard Administration.  Vaughn's experience will be a valuable asset to the Mayor as he tries to work his agenda through the Democratically-controlled Council.  I will be interested to see how much Vaughn is pushed out to become a major voice of the Administration.
