Daniels Drop Out Leaves Indiana in Play for Dems
The light at the end of the tunnel may not be a freight train, Democrats.
This morning, when Mitch Daniels exited the Presidential race (I'm assuming that the family veto he cited extends to the possibility of a Vice Presidential bid as well), it left the door open a crack for Democrats in the 2012 statewide and Presidential races.
Imagine it. Governor Daniels on the national ticket? That would have had a long coattail effect that would have probably carried over into the Presidential, Senatorial, and Gubernatorial races as well as right down the ticket here in Indiana. Now, with Daniels in severe lame duckitude, it allows Indiana to play out.
It's still going to be a climb for Barack Obama, John Gregg, and Joe Donnelly, but the mountain is now a steep hill.
