Huffington Post Picks Up Charlie White Scandal, Raises More Questions; Ballard Still To Headline White Fundraiser

Our old friend Bil Browning, writing for the Huffington Post, has just introduced the Charlie White scandal to national levels. You can find the full article here. He also linked this blog's posting on the situation to the HuffPo piece.

In the piece, Browning brilliantly links Governor Mitch Daniels' Presidential Express to White saying that he was the Guv's handpicked candidate for Indiana SOS. Browning also raises questions about the legality of White's run. Totally worth the read!

So, even though some bloggers are seemingly trying to be complicit with the Republicans and sweep this under the rug (ahem...Abdul), it looks like this one is going to be around a while. The bottom line of the story and the question raised is that Charlie White may have either knowingly or unknowingly committed voter fraud. Either way, is he now fit to serve as Indiana Secretary of State?

Apparently, Greg Ballard thinks so. The Indianapolis Mayor (and some of his accused puppet masters) are headlining a September 29 fundraiser for Charlie. The following is cut and pasted from the invitation:

This is just another silly decision by Greg Ballard. He should be running from White instead of cozying up to him. Notable names on the invitation also are the Mayor's former Chief of Staff Paul Okeson, and former CIB President Bob Grand.

UPDATE...BREAKING NEWS
WISH-TV's Jim Shella reported about an hour ago that White is possibly soon to be under a Grand Jury investigation for his ever-expanding scandal.

Attorney Greg Purvis, who brought documents to light last week showing that Charlie White's current residence was outside the Fishers Town Council District he was elected to serve, is now requesting, as Shella puts it, "an investigation into a possible felony charge and also suggests that an investigation is required into a real estate transaction in which White paid cash for a condo in Fishers." Purvis also requested a Grand Jury be convened and a Special Prosecutor be appointed in the case.
