Daley Won't Seek Re-election

Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley announced today that he will not seek re-election next year. More details as they become available, but Daley told reporters that his decision had to do with personal issues. His wife is suffering from cancer.

Daley has served as Mayor of Chicago since 1989 when he won a special election to replace Mayor Harold Washington, who died in office.
