Anderson Places Name in Caucus for Senate District 31

Sheriff Frank Anderson just made the race for Indiana Senate District 31 very interesting. As has been widely reported on various blogs, the Marion County Sheriff is going to run for Senate against Republican Majority Caucus Chair Jim Merritt.

It was officially confirmed this morning when the Star reported that Anderson had filed the necessary paperwork to enter the Democratic caucus. Union leader Lettie Oliver had filed to run, but she tragically passed away before the primary. Her name remained on the ballot, and she was elected posthumously. The Indiana Democratic Party will now fill the ballot vacancy with the caucus of precinct committeepersons.
