Republican House Leader Needs Civics Lesson

John Boehner was addressing an anti-health care reform rally when he did the old great political stunt and pulled out his copy of the United States Constitution. Then, the fun began...fodder for at least one campaign ad...maybe two.

I always enjoy seeing "strict constructionists" who don't know what actually is stated in the documents they are trying to "strictly construct.

I'm sure he knows the phrases quoted were from the Declaration. The Constitution was framed from the same principles and even mentions these in the fifth amendment, protecting them by due process. It is a common mistake and scholars have made the same gaff.

Don't ride this pony too hard. His message should not be lost in his quoting of the constitution.

My first thought: are you serious? I really hope the House Minority Leader just has a really stupid speech writer. However, after seeing the dumb things republicans have done over the years, it wouldn't surprise me if he just honestly thought he was quoting the Constitution! Pathetic... who votes for this guy?

Adam - Porbably the same people who vote for Joe Biden the plagarist who cant get through a speech without a misquote or gaffe. Are you serious?
