IPOPA Dramedy On Ballard Hits Mark; Coming Tomorrow on the Blog

Chris Worden, the man behind the curtain over at the Indy's Painfully Objective Political Analysis Blog, writes this hillarious "dramedy in one scene" about Mayor Greg Ballard and his administration. This is great blogpostery. Is that even a word?

If you are so inclined, read it here.

Coming up on Tuesday:
If you are a Precinct Committeeperson, Vice PC, Ward Chair, or Vice Ward Chair, you have a vote at the Marion County Democratic Party Slating Convention. Earlier this year, the Marion County Democratic Central Committee passed a new slating agreement for candidates that has caused a fair bit of discussion behind the scenes.

Many of you may have received a letter from Prosecutorial candidate Greg Bowes. I did not receive the letter, but Bowes e-mailed me a copy because of some of the material addressed in previous blog posts. I had suggested that Bowes would be "going rogue" and bypassing the slating convention to run against the party choice of either Terry Curry or David Orentlicher. Essentially, he admits that he will, in fact, not be going through slating and instead be taking his case to the voters at the Primary Election.

Tomorrow, I will try to tackle this issue and see if Bowes' argument holds any water across the county. It may take a couple of blog posts to do it, but it's something that's out there in the ether and there are some important developments to talk about.

So, a look at slating...tomorrow on Indy Democrat (play outro music).

Now I feel like a talk show host.

Let him go rogue...he is toast and he knows it...he just wants to try and keep a Dem from winning. He has capitulated to the GOP since he has been in office. He was a horrible city councilor and a worse assessor.......

i am a slating convention voter and I did not receive his letter. Maybe he already realizes that there is no way in hell that he would receive my vote.

Anon 12:09, do you realize that for every vote you have, the county chairman can appoint a mummy-dummy committeeman who hasn't done a lick of work to cross out your vote? Slating is all about party chairmen and their lieutenants controlling who is ultimately nominated. It has ZERO to do with party workers having an input into the process.

If the ward chairs do their jobs and keep their precincts filled with active PCs and VPCs then the County Chair has no vacancies to fill. We have too many over the hill lazy Ward Chairs who just want the title but don't want to do the work.

Anon 8:33 pm, there will always be a huge turnover in PCs, any way you slice it. When you have a volunteer job that is a lot of work with few rewards, you're going to have huge turnover. I'm not sure though why it's okay for ward chairman to fill vancies with mummy dummies any more than the county chairman.

Here's any idea, why not just allow elected PCS to vote in slating. Leadership will never allow that because the system is all about their controlling nominations, not about the grass roots having a voice.
